Recently worked on a CTC177AF3 which was dead with a dead FBT(hole blown in it) I replaced the FBT also changed almost all the electrolytics in the horizontal.Checked the other caps and diodes.Set worked fine for just about a day at the customer before he called to say that the TV was dead again.Collected it and opened up to find the FBT with a hole blown in it again.Any ideas would be welcome.

Too muh High Voltage.
First check the chopper circuit if it gives too much voltage (bad caps).
I don't remember the design of the ctc177, but if alike ctc169 , with a TEAxxxx chip , the problem may reside in this corner of the circuit.
Too much voltage/HV burn the fly.
Had a Proscan once that had same problem (but I don't remember exactly the design..... been couple of years ago)
