Ok, this afternoon I removed the three transistors and resoldered the transformer. One of the pins on the transformer (the side with four pins) has never been soldered. (See Below)What do you make of that? I’m guessing leave it as is.

Also, will I need to get some heatsink compound for when I put the transistors back on or will I be fine with what was left behind from the old ones?

And I’m still not sure which resistor is the one I need to replace, maybe I’ll figure it out when I get the parts. I read something about R607 being the resistor that we’re talking about. Is the resistor pointed out in the picture below the one I’m looking for.

Thanks

Just wanted to take a minute to thank kuhurdler for all the help thus far and to keep the thread updated.

I have ordered the parts and just waiting on their arrival. I order them from electronix.com and at this point would recommend them to anyone. They were the most knowledgeable, helpful and friendly place I had looked at and called. There was a $10.00 minimum so I did have to order something else to meet that minimum but that’s not a bad thing.

Also, I would still appreciate any helpful comments, hints or information anyone would like to share.

Yes, you'll want to use some new heatsink compound.

I'm sorry I haven't answered your resistor question. I just can't seem to recall if that is the correct one. It seems likely I guess.

No problem. Yeah I think it’s the one, the other resistors close to those two transistors don’t have the right values according to the resistor color codes, if I have those right.

Is heatsink grease the same basically as the compound or do I need specifically the compound? I think I can get the grease locally at Radio Shack.

Hello All,

I had a chance this weekend to put all the new parts in and everything went well. However, today I hooked the TV back up for the first time and it powered up but, I have audio only, no picture.
Any suggestions??? I did pull the back off to see if there were any obvious connections lose but found nothing.

Thanks for any help.....

Before taking the TV back out I tried one more time just to see what it would do. Now it has a picture but it’s black and white. ???????

Have had problems with C306 and C311 on the M pcb (one of the daughter boards. The Letter M will be printed on the board.) Also have had problems with IC301.
However, I would check all small connectors for being partially pulled out, check the M board for being fully plugged in.
Also, The transformer indicated on the pictured is not the driver transformer being talked about. What you want is T502 Horizontal Driver Transformer. It is a small transformer fairly close to the horizontal output transistor. If this transformer has bad connections it will cause a premature failure of all that you have replaced.

hope this helps

Jesse
