On all the resistors I get a reading of .692 and then switch the leads I get no reading at all.......so I am not sure what this all means as I am a mechanic and welder....not an electronics guy. All is I know is I need my plasma back....LOL

those are the readings you want from a diode

mind you those were the readings with both legs still on the board. Will it still work this way or do I absolutely have to lift the one? As for technical sites......mind if I ask what site you got that info from for the earlier post?

Other sites are either "prove your a technician" or "pay" a monthly fee. Crying or Very sad

I leave for a few hours and the discussion moved from diodes to resistors? Rolling Eyes

To reiterate: whenever you test ANY component "In Circuit," whatever else is also in the circuit may affect your readings.

Usually on resistors I only float one end when I don't get the SAME reading with leads either way. On diodes, I only float one end when I DO get the SAME (or nearly the same) readings with leads either way. Capacitors, I always pull to test.

I apologize for the "resistors" statement.....i meant diode....sorry for the confusion.......so it is safe to say then that testing the ZD's the way I did ruled that possible short circuit out?

Not sure what you meant by above.

As long as the Zener Diodes each had one "infinite" reading and reversing the leads resulted in one "lower" reading, they test fine.

Well back to the drawing board I guess..............could it be a bad PS you think? Cause there was a popped fuse next to the PWR input plug so I replaced the fuse. Is there rally a difference between a slow blow and normal glass fuse (the one I got from the tv shop is a glass with a squiggle filament in it and not ceramic like the factory one)

I cannot seem to find any literature on this type of board
PSPF651B01A Rev 0.16 or Samsung LJ4400109A (either/or) as to what normally fails on these. But it seems there are hardly any of these around which tells me they do not break down or are so notorious the demand exceeds the supply. Mind you I did find one write up regarding someone with a similiar issue and he replaced one of the PWM IC's and corrected it. I replaced this same IC and got knowhere. Mad

I was just wondering if you found a PS board, or what your problem was? I am in the same boat as you were a month ago.

Thanks

It was a ribbon cable that had come loose from heating/cooling and lost its contact. Pull out every one and reseat and see if that helps.

every single one on the back of the unit, or just the ribbon cables on the power supply?

I did most of the power supply cables. Some of them are a little tough and I don't want to break anything.
