I hate that kind of customer ...........
I bet 100$ that this customer will came only 2-3 weeks after you repair it !!!! I'm SURE !!!!!!!!!!
and will say that the bill was tooooo expensive.
always happen

If it was me , I would had scrapt his old Goldstar .... hehehe

anyway , make sure to do a good profit on this one !!!! (charge the time to research for the part # and/or shematic/service manual )
I would ask for a deposit for sure.

A customer came in with his dead TV set. The tech found a bad
ballast resistor. This was in the tube days - they'd string all the
filaments in series and run them directly off the 110VAC. The ballast
resistor was to prevent the starting surge from frying the tubes. Anyway,
this particular ballast resistor was unique - orange with purple polkadots
or something. Tech replaced it with a generic ceramic resistor.

A week later, the customer comes in again with the same TV set, asking
for a repair under warranty. Tech took the back off - and there was the
good old purple polkadot resistor! You can guess the rest...
