at the very least mark where they were before you rotate any of them by painting a line across them all.
When, I do this CRT procedure, I've never needed to recenter them. I just put them back in exactly where they were, and then do a minor tweaking with the convergence settings electronically.
The rings to adjust the centering each move the projection placement by rotating them one ring at a time. A full 360 revolution will move the image right back to the same place. I don't think I can describe how to adjust them in writing, I think you'll just have to play with it to see how each one impacts the image location.
I'm sorry I'm not more helpful. |

Thanks for the reply. Using the electronic convergence did the trick. Everything is back to normal. You should really take that very last step out of the tut. That's what messed me up. The last step should say use the menu driven electronic convergence to readjust the picture. You shouldn't even mention the tabs. Other than that hiccup this was a great tut!
Seriously though man, take that last step out. Your basically telling people to do something you specifically told me not to do after I followed your tut to a T. Just saying. |

I'm no expert on this area. I've personally only done it twice now. But I published the instructions that a very experienced tv serviceman sent me. I trust him.
Perhaps on some models that step is necessary. Maybe, I can add a note or something though. |

IF the convergence was "perfect" BEFORE you began coolant change and nothing was disturbed during the coolant change, theoretically, NO adjustment (mechanical or electronic) would be required.
In the real world = do mechanical first. |

| I have used baby oil in the two tvs I have done this with and haven't had any problems yet (been 2 years). The CRT coolant is just a form of glycol which is what baby oil and mineral oil is, and being CRT coolant is usually about 10 to 15 a bottle, its defiantly a cheaper route. Just make sure you get unscented and make sure its clear. |
