I'd assume there is a short in the power transistors in the amplifier.

thank you both for the replies. Is this something I can fix on my own or would I have to replace the whole board and make it easier and is there such a place to buy this type of parts from?

If you've got the desoldering/soldering skills, a multimeter and patience, you should be able to attempt it.
If the unit is more than a year or two old, the manufacturer may not be of much help as far as buying parts or replacing the whole board. If the unit uses proprietary parts (I.C.s / transistors), you may also have some difficulty.

Just google number on part. Results should point to a number of possible sources.
