I have an old NTSC zenith with vertical hold that allows me to watch PAL video signal without any problems. I would like to use my bigger JVC (model AV36230) television. I get the same vertical rolling screen when its connected through PAL video signal but there is no vertical hold knob. I downloaded the service manual and see the IC that controls the vertical output. Im familliar with using resistors and soldering electronic components. My question is, by installing a resistor after the vertical IC which would lower the voltage would it in fact lower my vertical frequency?

I could even install a potentiometer instead so that I could fine tune the vhold. Any thoughts?
