Have a Sony KV-40XBR800 tube set that I bout 4-5 year ago.
Over the last month, the red color slowly faded out and in until it finally disappeared all together.
Last week I unplugged the TV overnight to "reset" it, and the next day the red color came back for awhile. Now, it is gone again!
What does this mean? Is it worth the money to fix?

Much appreciate an answer/idea!

You may have a fault in the CX Board Video out Circuit.
Check IC9001 (TDA6111Q) For +12 Pin 2,if there: the IC itself maybe bad.

Thanks for responding! It is a bit technical for my layman mind however.

It sounds like something that can be fixed without costing the same as a new TV. Is this the case?

In my area it costs $100 just to talk to a TV repairman, and I really need to know if its worth it. If the CRT is bad, then am I wasting time and money?

Thanks again...I appreciate your time!
