Ok, after much struggling, I replaced Q001. The picture comes back, but with snow only even with a source input. Hear a click from speakers but can't control volume with TV control buttons.
Again, every TV control button displays like ACTION switch was pressed, EXCEPT ironically the ACTION button itself (which does nothing on the screen). The Remote does nothing.

The 1st time the TV power cord is plugged in it does NOT power on by itself and DOES power on with the switch, but NEVER powers off with POWER button on TV.
Subsequent Power-ons are immediate after plugging in power cord (no control from POWER button).

This receiver, as far as I can recall, does not have a selection for auto power on at plug in. It does have an "aging" mode but since you are not making any mention of a yellow (or red) CHK on the screen, nor are the buttons behaving like they would IF IT WERE in the serviceman mode...

Can you put the set into and out of serviceman mode?

No I dont see a CHK on the screen. Do you know how to put this set into/out of service mode? I didn't see this model in the Service Codes forum.

USE WITH CAUTION ONLY AFTER READING FULLY! (Doing more harm than good IS a definite possibility)

PANASONIC:

Panasonic TV's after 1996 can be set to "Serviceman Mode" with the
following remote control sequence:

First, select the SET-UP icon and select CABLE mode.

Then, select the TIMER icon and set the SLEEP timer for 30 minutes.

Next, press the ACTION button twice to get out of the menus.

Now, change to channel 124.

Then, adjust the volume to minimum (0).

You're almost there - Hit the VOL down button on the TV itself (not on
the remote) and a red "CHK" should appear in the upper corner.

Now, if you press the ACTION and VOLUME DOWN buttons (again, on the
TV, not the remote) you will toggle between AGING and SERVICEMAN modes.

Select Serviceman mode. The POWER button on the remote control will
select one of the five Serviceman Adjustment modes.

The modes are:

B - Serviceman VCJ SUB Adjustments. These include sub-tint,
sub-color, sub-brightness, sub-contrast, colorkiller/ABL/gamma,
audio and video adjustment, and vertical size.

C - Serviceman VCJ Cut-off adjustments. These include Red, Green
and Blue cut-off, red and blue drive, automatic fine tuning
(AFT), RF AGC (RF gain control), horizontal center, beam limit,
etc.

S - Serviceman Options Adjustments. These involce the PIP and
clock.

M - Serviceman MTS (Stereo/SAP) adjustments.

CHK - the mode you first entered. Normal picture and sound, lets
you check things over and still have a hotkey into the
service menu.

There is one more adjustment that isn't in the five modes, it's
global. When in either the yellow or red CHK mode, you can press
RECALL on the remote control to enter the purity field check mode.
This lets you select a pure white, red, green, or blue screen. A
good thing to walk away from if you just want to temporarily freak
out the floor manager, but it will be fixed as soon as the TV is
turned off. Oh well.

To get out of Serviceman mode, press ACTION and POWER on the
receiver simultaneously for at least 2 seconds. The TV will momentarily
shut off and then comes back on.

Could not enter into service mode using this procedure since the TV does not react to the remote (yes batteries are good and remote works on another TV). Cannot even select SETUP mode with buttons on TV.

I was just curious whether it would let you enter service mode (or not).

Try:
Turn the receiver on and momentarily short pins 3 and 8 of connector TP. In the upper left side of the picture, CHK is displayed in yellow. Press the action and volume up buttons on the receiver. The CHK display turns red. The Serviceman Mode is indicated by CHK displayed in red at the upper left side of the picture. Press the power button on the remote or the action and volume down buttons on the receiver repeatedly to select one of the service modes.

Always exit Serviceman mode when finished making adjustments. Press action and power buttons on receiver for approximately 2 seconds to exit Serviceman Mode. The receiver will display a self check menu with audio on channel 3.

Where is connector TP located? Should it have a number after it, such as TP202?

Just "TP." Along rear edge of main PC Board - by tuner.
