At "power-on", power LED blinks green (waiting for lamp to light), then reverts back to solid red without generating any picture or sound.
"Temp" and "Lamp" LED's do not light up.
Set apparently shut off during use, with no previous problems, and without generating on-screen message about lamp-life.
I don't have this one in the shop yet - customer is an 80 year old widower is being told by his retail outlet to change the lamp and it'll be OK again.
Anyone with experience with these? - is it likely there's more at fault than sudden lamp failure? I don't work on LCD's, but would like to help this older fellow out - especially if it's just a lamp replacement.
Any suggestions or advice much appreciated! |

if flashing 1x in 5 sec, lamp or ballast could be bad
if 2x in 5sec lamp is bad
if 3-4x in 5sec ballast bad
if lamp isn't broken it is likely the ballast
this info taken from panasonic service bulletin tip |

I have seen that before, most likely is the lamp (even if it looks good
physically). |

Follow up - found the lamp to be shattered internally, so it likely is the
only issue. Ordered the Panasonic replaement, which includes the housing
etc.
Question - replacement bulbs alone are available from other manufacturers
that cross to tall these sets, but the original lamp appear to be connected
to the wiring harness by a spot-weld process similar to how the element in
an electric kettle is connected. Anyone have experience in using these
replacement bulbs, and what is required or allowable for connecting the
original wiring harness to the new bulb? Be good to know for future use,
given the cost difference.
The Panasonic lamp/housing is $350 Cdn cost - replacement lamp only about
$180 approx. |

I have replaced those lamps , just use the wire (cut close to 'bulb' ) wrap
on screw terminals of replacement lamp. |
