Hi all,

I have a pet project at the moment to try and fix an old 19" lcd tv we have.

Make: Soundwave
Model: C1973F IPOD

Power board number: CEC-240003 Rev 1.1

The tv stopped working with a pop when flicking the main power switch. Opening it up i have found one of the (what looks like a capacitor) has popped/blown. This means that when flipping the main power switch sparks are firing out of said component.

The component itself is located in the top right most corner of the power board, and unfortunately the print on the piece has been blown off in the break.

Not sure how to add images but ill give it a go in a second entry.

Look forward to your help!

Hi JTS1957,

many thanks for the information you linked.

Reading through i was leaning towards it being a MOV, however i have since had a reply of a chap selling the board i have that the component has the following writing on it...

6-001
ntc

Which a google has led me to think denotes a “Negative Temperature Coefficient” thermistor.

Read more http://www.resistorguide.com/ntc-thermistor/

However i do not have a clue what the 6-001 denotes.. and even more unsure as to the rating of component i need!

If anyone is able to enlighten me to the coding system and/ or point me to a product it would be greatly received.

Kind regards,

Raife

Information regarding selection is in link I gave.

Removing the defective one should allow the board to run WITHOUT protection, ASSUMING board has NO further defect(s). Obviously, you would be assuming the risk.

Edit: Is component inline with one or the other AC inputs OR is it across them?
If inline, thermistor may be more likely. http://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/io/thermistors.html
