Hi, just got a Philips 32PW6006/25

There is no output on the screen atall, just a rapid high-pitch beeping, coming from the back of the telly when the power button is pressed.

only cost me a quid, just wondering if it's worth trying to fix it or not, and if not, are there any components in tvs like this that are worth anything (ie- more than I paid for the TV!)?

Never even opened up the back of a tv before, so would be very grateful for any kind of advice anyone can offer.

thank you!

I'd suspect the flyback transformer if it is squealing.

Thanks for your reply kuhurdler. its an intermittent beping, (almost like a quiet alarm) which fades away when the power is turned off. is the flyback transformer easy/ cheap to replace- and worth attempting for a complete amateur?

I can't advise you on whether you are capable of doing it yourself. I would advise you to read up on it as much as possible so you know what you are up against. and of course realize that there are voltages in your TV that can kill you.

With that said, I did it myself once upon a time.
