Okay, I was able to remove and degrease the two boards under the guns I had changed...sure enough, I did see residue on the main board. In pulling the board out, I broke another anode plastic clip and it also fell into the sleeve, but fell out when I flipped board upside down. The original green anode tube still has the plastic within it but I was carefully able to reseat all the anode wires.

The TV powers on and off now normally. But, I seem to have lost my audio from the TV. I can get it thru my amps, but curious what I may have missed when reinserting the boards. I rechecked the 3 or 4 ribbon connectors and they appear to seat well.

But, the other problem is the convergence. I went thru the Service interface but it appears that the colors are pulsing (ever so slighly) as when I line up a cross-hair it aligns and they goes fuzzy. Last time I converged, it was laborious but crisp. Net result, I got a bright picture that is fuzzy enough to be annoying.

One last new symptom, on a dark screen I can see background snow like you'd get off a over-air-feed.

I put the TV on pause, and the pulsing of the screen seems to coincide with the snow showing upon the screen. Its more obvious when the image is paused. So, those symptoms seem related. For a guy who is blue/green color-blind, the TV looks close to viewable, but the family definitely does not agree. I plan to have the wife fine-tune the convergence, but with the pulsing I'm not sure this will be much of a improvement.

To recap: 1. I no longer have audio. I had it before I removed the board to clean it. 2. Picture is bright but fuzzy. Mostly shows up with the blue creeping around edge. Using service convergence, the blue to red or blue to green seem to have larger lines than the other convergence color options so its not obvious what convergence is needed...until I exit and then see the picture...usually its blue around text boxes like the weather channel logo. 3. Picture is pulsing,,,,goes bright and less fuzzy, then pulses a bit dimmer and a bit fuzzy. When it pulses dim that is when snow creeps into the picture,,,more obvious on dark portions of the screen. The pulsing seems random but happens every few seconds or so.

I've seen suggestions on how to adjust focus from within the set but don't want to chase that tail if item 2 or 3 suggest larger actions are in order. In all my ramblings, I was cautious to avoid touching the rings on the lamps but that doesn't mean something did get shifted when I put them back into the set.

Okay, I jumped into the Focus last night and was able to get Blue much more focused...the Red seems a bit squirrelly and I couldnt seem to get Focus to really work on the Red cross-hair. But, I'm able to converge all the colors and the family is happy enough to warn me not to play with it anymore.

Items 1 (no audio) and 3 (pulsing) continue. The pulsing is less obvious now that the blue has been adjusted,,,,but on dark parts of the screen I can see the light snow. At the back of the set, I hear the pulsing emanating from the anode housing....so I may need to pull those anode connections and reseat them again...

the pulsing is definitely caused by your high voltage cable terminations. It's possible you have a small piece of the cable broken off in there.

Thanks for confirming this. I'm sure there is a piece of plastic in the green anode tube...I pulled it off again and the green lead was straight so I assume it was grounding. But, if I have a loose wire schard floating down there (or in another anode tube) I need to think about how I might exume it.

I've looked at this anode housing and it doesn't seem like it comes apart easily...and I fear breaking it. ah, metal schard, maybe a magnet will help me out...
