RCA 27R410T
ITC008FAM chassis

I just replaced the chassis board on this tv. Upon power up, the vertical amplitude is way off. I'm talking 2" of black at the top and bottom. I can't get the VA adjustment to go above 63, so there is no way to get the raster to fill the screen. Any ideas??

Did you replace this with a new board? or rebuilt?

It sounds like the typical problem with capacitors out of tolerance around the vertical IC.

Well it was supposed to be a new board, however I guess it could have been a rebuilt. I got it from MAT Electronics. I have no schematic for this board, can you tell me which IC I should start replacing caps around, or provide a link to a schematic. I work for a production company and repair professional monitors and thus have the books, but this is a favor for the owner (the one no one says no to) so I need to try and pull this repair off. I wish he would stop buying cheap stuff to use at his home.

I've never had a good experience with MAT Electronics. It's quite possible they gave you a dud board. Have you tried contacting them to exchange it again?

I could give that a shot, but if it's just a couple of caps, I might as well just give that a shot since it only cost $20 for the new board. Any idea on a location for the schematic? And thanks for your input.

I don’t have a schematic, but I would expect that the vertical chip has 9 pins and is attached to a heatsink. I would resolder the pins on that chip, and then ESR the caps that are in close proximity to it... or just replace.

hmmm, I resoldered the IC, and replace all the caps near the only 9 pin IC to no avail. Any other thoughts before I call this junk?
