TV would not power up back around Christmas. Unplugged it and let it set over night and it powered up and run for a while. Put it in the shop and after the run around i got it home to fix it myself.
I took the back off the other night and hooked up a game and turned the kids loose on it and it played fine then I left it powered up that night to get up to it shutdown and will not power up.
Unplug it and let it set and it fine for a little while.
I cleaned both of the fans really good vacuumed the dirt out of fans and around where the fans are.
It acts like it is tripping a circuit breaker and then it resets itself after it is unplugged for a while. |

well, it sounds like there is something in the eeprom keeping it from starting up. Either it is finding a fault, and purposely keeping it off. Or it is faulty and cutting power to it eventually causes the eeprom to reset itself.
I can't remember off my head how to get to the service menu for certain but see if this works:
power off the set for 10 sec, then hold down Vol- and Ch- buttons for 10 sec
If that gets you to the service menu, you can check the error/fault codes.
If it doesn't, post back and I will look up the correct service mode procedure. |

Will this still work even though I am having to unplug and let it set for about 24 hours before trying?
Just to make sure I understand you.
I turn on TV
Then turn off TV wait 10 secs
then hold both the Channel (-) and the Volume (-) for 10 secs
And then the screen will come one? and be in Sevice Menu? |

I tried to get it in the service menu and it does go in to it.
Are you sure that is right?
Please Let me know I unplugged it again to keep it from holding a charge and shutting down again. |

then power and release
then press vol up

I can't find anything on those error codes. I have never needed to purchase the service manual for a CTC211. So I can't tell you what they mean. You can purchase a service manual from http://www.thomsonnetwork.com/. It looks like it about $40.
If it were in my shop, I have a chipper checker I would use to read those error codes. But I know that doesn't help you much.
At this point, unless you can find a place that will tell you what those error codes mean, I would try checking the voltages to see if they match up with the ones in that link I gave your previously.
I suspect you have a fault with the High Voltage... either in one of your CRTs or the flyback xfmr or splitter. It's just a guess at this point. Because I don't know what other fault would cause the TV to shut down for good. I wouldn't jump to that conclusion without a little more info.
I'd still like to hear what the service shop has told you. |
