I know that this model is an old one but the picture and sound was great!! I set the timer the night before and it turned off .. however the next morning I tried to turn it on and it will not turn back on .. I have unplugged to try and reset, no go.. it makes no noices like popping it is just dead..
I have a couple of questions.
First .. What could be could be the reason that it did this?
Second .. I only paid $30.00 for the set and do it is age would it be worth fixing it ... I called a repair location and they stated it will cost me $43.50 for him to look at it and that if he can repair it then that will be deducted from the repairs ....
Thanks |

Well, this is the CTC177 chassis.
It typically has known problems with the EEPROM corruption... caused by bad tuner grounds.
and they are also known to have some bad diodes fairly often.
the parts for either job are fairly cheap, but you'll have to pay a repair shop the labor charges. They have to earn a living too.
I can't really tell you if it is worth it or not... that's really up to you. |
