I thought of this idea because my grandma's house (passed away now) is for sale. My parents have to keep the house heated/cooled to comfortable temps in case someone needs to come view it.

It seems like thermostat could be hooked up to a cell phone or something kind of remote device that would turn on the heater/AC and quickly make the house comfortable.

Im sure the tech is available to do this today, which is why I dont mind sharing the idea. i could probably hack somethign together myself in fact, but it would have to be pretty since the house is for sale. does someone make one of these already?

kcpl sets up a remote control/view page with their thermostats that they also get control of for summer demand reduction.
