I have a Samsung DLP 56" TV (Model Code--HL56A650C1FXZA), that turns on and off by itself, with a hissing sound near the lamp.

I've removed the back panel, and vacuumed off everything I could; including the lamp. I set the little blue switch under the lamp cover, as required, during cover replacement.

Could/Would a faulty "lamp" cause the sets continuous on/off trouble? If not, what might???

HELP!!! I'm lost here.

Thanks much, in advance!!!

sounds like the ballast may have an isssue with the hissing going on near the lamp area. Have you checked the ballast for any sign of arcing> The lamp connectors may also be loose.

Hey slinteriors!!!

Didn't notice arcing, but I do see the bulb flash at start up; and I've heard that it could be the "color wheel"...and I do see some dust near the bulb ( maybe ballast) that I couldn't reach with my vacuum. I'm going to try some "canned air" to blow that out.

The picture is great, for the few seconds that it's on Question then the bulb and picture go out, followed by the sound going out...then it starts all over again. I'm really am lost.

Like a lot of folks right now, I don't have the funds to start replacing stuff that won't clear-up this mess. I also don't know much about electronics, but I'm trying anyway. What the heck!!!

And I do appreciate your feedback on this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
