I have a 47" Samsung LCD TV that cost about $2000 and is about 18 months old. A few weeks ago I noticed this irregular line and dark area down the left side of the screen. It's always present, but more obvious depending on the background of the picture. To see examples of this go here http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/6246962/1/TV?h=bcef8b (click on thumbnails for larger view)

What's causing this and how do I fix it?

Good question. I have the same problem with a Polaroid LCD except my dark line is on the right side. It seems like it just appeard one day and never left.

Sorry, I thought this problem would be model independent.

Do this.

Take back off.
Make sure set is unplugged.
Disconnect CN801 on the IP (power supply) board.
Plug in set and backlights will automatically come on.
If distortion is still there you have a bad panel/backlight assy.

Rather than start a new thread I thought I would modify this one. I have a vertical line in my picture. I have replaced the T-Con but the problem didn't change.

I tried disconnecting CN801 but then I can't power on the TV. The backlights do not come on when I plug in the TV again. Is there something I may be doing wrong?
