eh.... I don't know, this monitor has 4 or 5 boards and all of them have tons of caps...

So how do you test a cap anyway?

There's a lot of boards and a lot of caps. But if you say the crt neck board is all id need to check, I suppose I could.

BTW about the dirty hands - I'm a mechanic by trade (but I wear gloves :P )

I already did, they all look fine. No way im testing each one.

Relentless googling suggested that monitor cables cause ghosting. Sure enough, I bought a high quality monitor cable from newegg and the ghosting is gone. But those horizontal lines are still there. T ...

Those are NOT the ONLY ways caps can fail. You need to test them for "Value" and "ESR," at least. :)

That was a good idea. So I cracked it open and looked all over, I can't spot any problems. No leaky or bulging caps... :/ Oh well.

Any other ideas? :)
