Hi All,

Im a novice, I am an electronics hobbyist. I recently received a TV that was struck by lightning. Model: KDL-40EX710
TV was sent to Sony for repairs but they trashed it as it was an obsolete model.

I am trying to reverse engineer the power supply board. I have taken the board of the TV and working on it.

The relay latches when I put a 1K jumper on STBY3.3V to POWER_ON. All other 12V does power up for a second and goes dead. I took a reading of input for Optos.

PH6300 - PIN 1 and 2 = 1.09V - Turned on
PH6302 - PIN 1 and 2 = 1.05V - Turned on
PH6100 - PIN 1 and 2 = 8.7V - Blown out?
PH6201 - PIN 1 and 2 =0.96 V - Turned on

I got the circuit for the PSU from the link below.
ftp://helpedia.com/pub/temp/datasheets/monitors/Sony/Sony_1-474-218-11_[SCH].pdf

I am trying to fix the TV myself

Thanks for the help in Advance.

What does the POWER_ON pin do when power button is pressed with the set all together?

Nothing much, I hear the relay click on, POWER_ON = 3.3V the red LED lights up and then clicks off after 2 or 3 seconds, Red LED goes off.

If I power up and press the Power Button while I have the red LED lit up, POWER_ON = 3.3V then Green LED lights up, POWER_ON = 3.3V and then wait for 1 or 2 seconds. Then Green LED goes off and RED LED lights up and then RED LED goes off POWER_ON = 0V .

Thanks!!

With lightning either BAL or Power (or both) may be defective.

If HDMI on BAL board is burnt, you may also want to also check whatever was connected to it.

Hello, are there any suggestions for me as to why PH6100 Pin 1 and 2 measure 8 Volts?
