Does it continue to "burn out" this resistor when TV is tried with red CRT board unplugged and safely "floating"?

Will the set run (with the green & blue CRT SOCKET/BOARDS plugged in but NOT the red) even for a short time? I'm not sure if IK will prevent. Try allowing to run for 30 seconds (for heaters to come up), turn off and immediately turn back on and see if a bluish-green picture appears.
Resistor is 1,000 ohms at .5 watts.

I suspect you have a shorted red CRT. Probably Heater to G1, which would explain why "It happens every time we plug the wire from the green crt board to the red crt board."

It works with the green and blue one. How do we test the red crt. Heater to g1

Leave the red CRT SOCKET vacant and if wires are long enough plug the red BOARD onto the green or blue CRT (AFTER installing a good 1K resistor on the red board). If still bluish-green, Red CRT is defective.
