I just call back by customer living in San Jose
very far away from me.
It is sony KP41T15, It is out of 3 months repair
guaranty.
Last time I change two STK392-010 and put it to
normal.
This time it can be turned on and have good
picture, after 10..20 minute, it begin to have ge...ge
sound, and the horizontal lines on very line at the
same length then cut down, it can not be turned on and
even with no flash pilot light. after 30 second or 1
minute it have flash pilot light again when you push
the powet on button. and over a while, push again it
turn on and have good picture again.
The hor board: E board I applied resoldering to it I
found some solder join loose. I change the HV reg, But
it remain not fixed.
I take back E board and convergence board home, and
told customer next week to pick up back to service
center for heavy repair.
It is very un-common problem.
Thank you |

When you get it back there Ming, watch it carefully to make sure it isn't a
CRT problem. Sony is notorious for bad CRTs. Sometimes you can tap on the
neck and make it act up. |

Well Ming First Thing.....
Never under any circumstances during repair do you ever DISCONNECT the
Grounds from the CRT Frame-To-Board connections OR the High VOLTAGE SENSE
wire coming out of the Hi Voltage Splitter.....I did that once and had 3
CRTs that got damaged.!!! Never never never.....
OK, I think you're "Gee Gee" Sound might be the main SMPS, but.... is it
making the sound because it's bad or because it's trying to feed power to
the bad circuit??
That's what we need clarification on.
When it fails, there should be a plug on the Deflection portion of the board
that is designed to Disconnect the SMPS from the Deflection circuit...I use
it regularly for testing, separating the cause of failure.
In some cases, you can monitor the + 135 V supply there or you can
disconnect it. When disconnected and the SMPS is NOT BAD......You get sound
or No Shutoff.....
That's why I use it.
Now when your TV fails.....Can you turn it back on WITHOUT having to unplug
it? (Not HV shutdown)
When if fails do you see the Width or Height of the picture have a problem
before it goes out???
and the horizontal lines on very line at the
> same length then cut down
I can only assume this statement means the Horiz lines shrunk....the picture
shrunk in on the left and right sides.
If that's the case, I'd look at the SMPS 135 V supply dropping down to about
130V or less....

he old ones like this....Didn't.
And most of this age would show a green picture or a reddish one...
I'd be surprised if the fault would be the crts. But I could be wrong
too....tap those crts Ming, but you have to decide if the customer is a
Weird - O that will make you buy him crts "just because you tapped them and
smoked the board" or not. I still tap them, but there's always that Weirdo
out there.....

Yes, Thank you. It was indeed CRT dead. The last time
I went to see it. It can not be turned no. now this Tv
the customer sell it to me at 50.00 I Have it and
with other same model TVs are at three sets. I used
these parts to fix two more TVs at the same chassis
but different model. If I have time I will change CRT
that selling from Tritronicsinc.com at 50.00 each.
These TVs can sell at 400.00 each now but need plenty
of time to work on convergence alignment. |
