Hi, I have a Sony KV-32S10 that we're ready to toss. The picture flickers on and off. I'd like to know what is wrong with it before we toss it.

Sony uses a monitoring circuit to monitor the emission of the tube. This
causes the video blinking when the tube emission is low - which is caused by a bad CRT.

This has been a problem with these sets for quite a while now - and there is no REAL fix other than change the CRT. This is expensive and not cost effective so we have several options (in my order of preference):

turn up the G2 (makes the screen brighter)
rejuvinate the CRT (sometimes works, but possible to ruin the CRT)
junk the set
bypass the IK circuit

There ARE other possibilities, and other things can go bad. But 90 percent
of the time - it is the CRT.
