I have a Sony KV-35S42 manuf in 1999. It has a good sound, but the scrunches to the top then disappears. sometimes it is only black. always good audio. the standby timer light blinks sometime when it does this, and it is once per second and just keeps going and going.

I am in Pt Mugu, CA and would like to know if this is even worth fixing.

I'm sorry to put you off. but this one requires a little more knowledge before we can give you a good answer.

It could be your tube is shot, which would cost more than the TV when you bought it.

it could also be bad solder or a bad vertical chip, which would be around $80-100.
