I've been trying to figure out this puzzle for the past year. I have already tried calling Sony, but behold, no Sony repair techs in my area for hundreds of miles.

Model: Sony NSX-40GT1
Symptom: Will not power on
Error Code: None. Solid standby red light.
First started: Ever since I moved last July.

Note: Upon plugging in the TV (it doesn't care what outlet or if it is in a surge strip or not), I can hear the click of the static converter, but it is unresponsive to both the TV remote with fresh batteries or to pressing the on switch. It just sits in what I would call an eternal standby.

I've searched the web on more than one occasion, but everything I have seen states there should be an error code in the form of blinking lights. I am not fortunate enough to get anything from my unit.

So, I am looking for ideas at this point.

Main board is a possibility. but without further troubleshooting is just a feeling or guess.
