Got a Sony KP-51WS500 that the green crt flashes after 20 seconds or so , then tv shutts off by itself .
could be a shorted green crt but not sure ..... need your opinion on this one.
Any hints appreciated.
Tks.
p.s. I have a Sencore CR-70 , would also need the set-up to check the green crt.

Most likely Gaetan it's the CRT . A lot of times you can tap on the tube and
make it flash , "dat a tell ya fer sure" |

| Remove the socket from the green CRT. You probably will ot have a raster beckause of AKB but if the set stays on you will know the GCRT is shorting and causing shutdown. |

dear rick
sony crt has these defects,if the set is on for some
secs n goes up ,u could try this
open/c the three cathodes i.e red,blue n green
put on the set, if the set does not shut down n sound
should b ok then for sure the crt is for dustbin |

I tap the green crt a couple of time and it was making it flashing green , then tv wasn't shutting off anymore , so I let it warm for 2 hours , and I tap it again a few times , then a ball of fire drop down from the guns to the bottom of the crt ...... tv is OK now , work for 2 hours yesterday without any prob (even no more color fluctuation) , and this morning still OK , been running for more than an hour up to date .
will play it all day for sure but I think crt is ok now.
