I have a Sony KP-51WS505 rear projection and when I turn my TV on it is fine for about 5 seconds then the whole screens fades into a red so there is nothing on the screen but red, and then the TV shuts off itself. Before this started happening only the red and green bulbs worked and there was no red color on the screen.

correction the blue and green bulbs were the only ones working and the red bulb was not.

What happens if you run the set without the CRT board plugged onto the red tube?

On the opposite end of the picture tubes from the lit screen end, there are printed circuit boards that plug onto the end of each CRT. Gently wiggle and pull board off of the RED CRT (do NOT let this board come into contact with any metal) and try running the set.
