Hello everybody,

I hope somebody can help me out.
The problem I have is with a TCL L40F11F LCD TV.

The screen is spreading a black spot if it is turned on. Going to a menu the spot gets blue.
Because it is difficult to describe the problem exactly I made a movie from it and put it on youtube.
You can see it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiv1r3xOQuE

Now there are only three main parts in the TV and the question is which part is broken.

1. Main board
2. Power Supply
3. LCD screen

I did looked for bad capacitors on the power supply but they all looked fine.

When searching on the Internet I get different results.
So I hope somebody here saw this problem before and has the right answer for me.

thank you for your time.

Alan

1 or 3

Since OSD seems OK, that would tend to eliminate tcon (without board part numbers - likely part of panel).

He gets the initial TCL 'Splash' screen and then cycles through various menu icons that are on top of a washed away 'No Signal' screen.

Thank you all for replying on my posting, very appreciated.

I don't see any other board.
So is that tcon board integrated in the main board?

In the YouTube movie i played around with the menu to show the TV is working fine only the display is looking awful.

If i connect the arial I can watch television but with very disturbed colors.

i can buy a new main board for a reasonable price but is it worth trying.
If the screen is broken then I buy it for nothing.

Across the top edge of the Main board are 5 connectors. The longest is in the middle. This possibly is the LVDS cable.

The tcon is either integrated into the Main board or the driver board (across the top edge of panel). Where the opposite end of the LVDS goes.

The connector goes into the steel frame.
Under the frame is a long small print.

Could the problem be in that print?

I'm not really getting further.

Let's change my question.

Would you take the risk for $40 to buy a new main board in the hope the problem is in there?

I can guarantee it IS ... a New-to-you main board.

What is the panel part number?
