Hello,
I am working on a Toshiba 32AF43. The picture is blurred. When I put a crosshatch pattern on the TV, only the vertical lines are out of focus. When I adjust the focus on the flyback, only the horizontal lines are affected. (they will go in focus) The vertical lines stay out of focus. Something in the horizontal circuit? I appreciate any help.

My guess is you have a defective CRT.

Tube is Shorted If you can get a sencore tube checker you can remove it
(Sometimes) that set is known for shorted tubes as is the 32hf ALSO

I have seen this repair go one of two ways.

Bad Flyback OR bad CRT. Try the
flyback first, of course.

Hope this helps.

Joe the crt does get a shot on the focus and U can try this to remove it :
1)Power Off Unit
2)Remove Crt Pcb
3)Ground The G2 On Crt Base
4)Run A Clip
From The Focus To Well-Insulated Screwdriver
5)Power Up Set & Let Hv Build
6)Power Off Set And Immediately Pop The Focus To Anode Lead.

Don't know but yes same thing, horz lines are affected I don't know why but
I used a sencore beam builder to remove the short But who knows how long it will last. I have had several of these 32" flat tube Toshiba's do this.
