Here are some very specific instructions.
Using the negative side of C810 (1000 mfd capacitor) as ground, or the anode of D801A1 as ground, see if you have DC on fuse F860. Should be at least 160 Volts DC. If you do not, check R811 & R810 these are 15Watt (usually White) Resistor's, value should be 0.62 Ohms. If they are good, using the tuner shield as ground, check for 5 Volts DC on both sides of D845. (This diode should be close to relay SR81 and is a tiny diode. If you have DC on both sides of the diode the relay is NOT turned on. If it is not turned on check for approx .7 Volts DC on the Base of QB30 (may be a missprint and might be Q830) and on the base of Q843. If you do have DC on the base of Q843 and also have DC on the collector of this transistor you either have an open ground or an open transistor. The normal voltages for the relay to turn on is that there will be 5 Volts DC on the Cathode of D845 and 0 Volts DC on the Anode using the tuner shield as ground. If the relay is indeed turning on and you still do not have any DC voltage on F860 using hot ground and the resistors are good the relay will have burn't contacts.
Hope this helps
Jesse
Note: I am leaving tomorrow for 1 week (going moose hunting, no, I am not spending a lot of money to do this, I live in Alaska) so good luck. |

Hi,
I realize this was a couple of years ago but do you remember if you got this fixed and what the problem was. I am having a very similar problem with this same model.
Thanks |

Howdy,
I know this is hard to believe but my wife and I are having a very similar problem to this as well. It is funny that within a day of each other we would have the same problem on such an old tv.
We just got this from our Father in law.
When I turn it on it clicks on and pops, but never shows any picture. It was working fine last night.
Any help would be appreciated. Someone had said we may just need to replace the bulb but they are not professionals.
Thanks,
Rik.D |
