Make & Model Number: Toshiba 57H82
Chassis Number: TAC 0265
Current symptoms: Sound but no picture
Any symptoms that led up to the current symptom: For a few weeks before the screen would be completely white when first turned on. After 1-2 minutes the picture would suddenly return to normal.
Location: Columbus Ohio

The picture went out the night before the Ohio State/Michigan game. Had to purchase a new TV that night since missing the game was not an option! Trying to determine if its worth fixing and placing in my finished basement.

If it costs more than I want to spend, are there places that would buy the TV in the condition its in now? There is a little burn in on the left and right edges from watching non-HD signals. Even with that I had no plans to replace the TV. I was still pleased with the picture right up the point that I had the problem.

Thanks,
Doug

I worked an a set identical to yours, except it was the next size down.

you can read up on that repair Here

While I was messing with it, one of the sypmtoms of the bad CRT board was a white screen. That would lead me to believe that yours is facing the same problem. Most likely a shop would just replace the Green CRT board instead of jumpering accross it like I did.

Parts <$100
Labor ~$2 - 300
delivery = unknown

of course that is just a rough estimate

Thanks. I think $400 is a reasonable and now just have to call around to the local shops.
