Trying to fix a toshiba 62hm195 dlp tv. I have just replaced the light engine and get this series of lights. When i power on (steady blue for 10-15 sec and then amber blinks 15 times, .05 interval, and then set powers off and starts process again) I have already installed a brand new toshiba lamp. This process started when the second lamp poped after only 4 months of use.

Any insight as to what that series of lights is trying to tell me?

I had a service technican tell me that i needed to replace the light engine (the lamp burnout had caused damage to the ballast/light engine...since you cannot order just a ballast i replace the light engine.. so now that i have still no tv HELP!

T,

I will try to walk you through it. First I would like to advise that a short lamp lifespan can be a direct result of touching the lamp with your fingers. You may or may not know this but I thought I would say it anyway.

1st. Your symptom indicates that the unit is trying to strike the lamp and will continue to do this 8 times before shutdown.
2nd. I am assuming that you have rechecked the lamp and can see no physical damage. (Implosion)
3rd. Remove the tv's rear cover
4th. Power the set on using the power button.
5th. If you are half deaf like me, get someone with very good hearing.
6th. The question is, does the color wheel start? Yes/No ?? The person with very good hearing should be able to hear a high pitched whine when the TV is first turned on.
7th. If the answer is no, check the plug connections from the color wheel to the DMD formatter board.

If yes let me know as this a seperation point for troubleshooting.

Jesse
