Turn the volume to max ON THE CABLE REMOTE then turn up the volume with the TV REMOTE.

When you do this is there an on-screen indicator that shows that you are turning up the volume when you are using the TV REMOTE?

Again, Make sure the speakers are turned on from within the TV, not the cable, on-screen display menu.

ok so i took the cable box off due to the fact they gave me a faulty cable box. so till monday im using the cable cord from the wall to the tv
can i still hear sound from that
