Most makes will turn on but will have led's flashing on the front indicating a problem. Please note that if there is a lamp in the unit it will not function if the access door to the lamp is open. If you have the owners manual it will explain how to remove lamp. Most lamps implode (break inside) and is obvious when removed and examined.
Hope this helps

From what you have said it sounds like you already have purchased a lamp. If you have there are two wires and their length will determine which goes where.. Also, If you have a bare lamp do not touch it with your fingers. If you already have, you must clean the lamp using denatured alcholol. if you do not clean it there will be a significantly shorter life span.
As to the LED's there should be a indicator when you plug the set in and if there is not there should be an indicator when you turn the set on. If there is no indicators at all when you plug it in or turn it on there will be a problem other than the lamp.
Hope this helps.

Was the Lamp you inserted a new one or the original one?
Lamp status indicator is caused by:
Lamp door not closed completely.
Lamp not seated properly.
Bad Lamp.
Bad Ballast.
Hopt this helps

Without knowing exactly which input you are using the only advice I can give you is to go to the on-screen menu, audio section, and make sure that the speakers are turned on.
Hope this helps
