Do I need to unplug the power plug, the ariel cable and the audio video cable from the broken tv before I discharge the crt Question
Another question the aquadag is a covered spring with plastic wrap so when discharging crt do I need to connect the clip directly to the spring not the plastic wrap Question

NO.
Metal to metal works well. IF CRT has a charge you will hear a loud pop / snap.

my vote is disconnect it from everything.
Better safe then sorry.
If the CRT SNAPS, you're going to jump at least a little. I still do every time.
