Well I have some old electrical wire left over from when they wired my house. Guess I will use some of that. I know it doesnt matter what alligator clip I use however I was curious the picture of the alligator clip used in How to Discharge a CRT
(without killing yourself). Where did you find one like that? lol Curious. |

I got that one from an old TV antenna, from back when they used the 300 ohm twin-lead wire for antennas.

Ok. Another stupid question for ya. If I go buy one of those smallish alligator clips where would I attach the 2 bare wires to it?

Ok. My Mom found the capacitors at work. I gave her the spec sheet from mouser.com. I have one question. The temp on the 220uF 50v that I am replacing says 85c on it. My mom got me one with 220uF 50v 105c. Going with one that has a higher temp is fine right?

Does this look sufficient enough? lol Should I wrap some electrical table around the copper wire on the screwdriver to make sure the wire is in contact with the screwdriver at all times? Also I am wrapping the other end around the spring right? What is the best way to wrap it around a spring? Stupid questions I know. Better safe than sorry.

Well maybe you should keep your comments to yourself. I am just being overly cautious. I have heard that CRT's can be dangerous if your not careful. I have discharged the CRT. I touched the metal under the ANODE cap a bunch of times and nothing happened. I assume the tv has been discharged the whole time. Gonna replace the capacitors soon.

Well I desoldered the old caps and put the new caps on no problem. Waited a few. Turned the tv back on. Now I have no picture and a loud high frequency noise coming from the tv. Shakes head. I think I am just gonna trash the thing.
