retrace lines on screen & washed out picture, had to turn screen control almost all the way down to get rid of lines, bur still poor color & picture with some horizontal streaking. Checked & subbed both electrolytics on the 200V line, no change. I remember Panasonic's like this with a bad electrolytic the cause - anyone seen this on Zenith, & can point me in a direction (no schematic for this one). Cathode voltages on CRT seem OK.
Any help much appreciated!

if my memory is right, there is a small transistor on
the CRT module I think its located on one of the corners & for some reason
Q5106 is in my head (probably wrong though). Greg

There are 3 110k resistors in the crt board that increase the value, I
replace them.

Sounds like a heater to cathode short in the tube.

Thanks all, Q5104 was shorted B-E, replaced with NTE399, also had to replace
C5108 1uF @ 50V. Don't have the 1 uF 350V in stock, but will probably put
one in. Screen adjustment normal now, no retrace lines or smearing. The
green gun is real predominant - I remember an earlier post with links to get
service menu codes, so I'll check back to get into service menu to reduce
green.

Secondary problem showed up: Volume down on remote operates fine, but Vol
down on front panel will shut set off. All other front panel buttons
operate normally. I've seen leaky caps on 5V ladder network for switches
cause improper function on keypress, but that affected most if not all the
buttons. This affects Vol Down only. Any tips on this? Thanks guys!

Ken, Try changing the Tack Switches. I've seen this happen before.

Found the service code site, but the LG/Zenith codes they give only let me
access the first page of service menu ( 00 to 06) - I can't find or access
the page to adjust the CRT bias etc.
Can anyone help?

Also, the Vol down issue, the Vol down function will intermittenly initiate
Vol down - channel change / or power off. I'll have to pull the front panel
board & see if there's corrosion or gunk on the switches.

thanks, guys

Ken
